Landscaping Recommendations

There's no reason to take short cuts once landscape construction begins. Here are some tips I share with my clients.

SOIL

Proper soil preparation is one of the most important parts of any landscape construction project. It's the key to a vibrant and healthy yard.

As a general rule of thumb, I recommend generous amounts of mushroom compost to be worked as deeply into the soil as possible. During my landscape construction days, I would always have a "Cat" with teeth on the back to rip the soil to a depth of 18 inches. Then we would work compost into the soil by rototilling.

IRRIGATION

The next step is irrigation. I have recommended Rain Bird™ products for more than 20 years. Rain Bird manufactures a full line of irrigation controllers, sprinklers, nozzles, and drainage equipment for residential and commercial uses.

CONTRACTORS

Qualified contractors must be hired for concrete, pools, decks, gazebos, pergolas, etc. Call me for names.

PLANT MATERIALS

Your plant material must be top grade from the best growers available. I highly recommend plants by Monrovia™. They produce beautiful ornamentals that are healthy with strong root systems and a greater resistence to pests and disease.
